You know any red carpet will shine when it's got the likes of Lizzo, Billy Porter, and Cynthia Erivo walking. That's why we're keeping our eyes peeled on the absolute best beauty looks from the BET Awards, the June 26 soiree hosted by Taraji P. Henson.
Did we mention that Lizzo is performing, and nominees include Doja Cat and Zendaya? While we don't know exactly what's in store — these looks are of the utmost secrecy — we are expecting some bright color, enviable nails, and more than a few bold lips.
As the night goes on, we're curating the best of the best beauty looks of the 2022 BET Awards (and there are a lot) that we feel sure will inspire trends for months to come.
One of the first arrivals was also the most anticipated — Lizzo showed up on time and looking fabulous. She wore her hair down in soft curls with finger waves, which added a vintage vibe and elegant flair. It came courtesy of hairstylist Shelby Swain, who used Dove Amplified Textures and Dove Hair Therapy products. Her makeup look was monochromatic, featuring coral blush and eye shadow.
There is literally never a dull Billy Porter red carpet moment — let this photo be exhibit A. The Pose star and singer might be an early contender for best manicure with his metallic green nails, but of course the focal point of this look are those dramatic fake shoulders, which are more futuristic than 9 to 5. Let's not sleep on that pop art-esque white and red smokey eye, though.
The singer went for pure drama with a butt-length high ponytail that matched her sequined brown dress. It was pure glamour from the hair down to her brown smokey eye and very gloss lips. Don't think we didn't notice her minimalist manicure, either.
Eva Marcille's beauty look came courtesy makeup artist Terrell Mullin, who created one of the most all-out glamorous eye lash moments of the night. Her square nails were also a highlight, as the pale pink design featured a dainty chevron.
Taraji P. Henson
The first of 13 beauty looks from host Taraji P. Henson did not disappoint. Her hairstylist Tym Wallace gave her an extra-long ponytail that fell down to the back of her knees. She topped it off with a cherry red lipstick that matched the red carpet.
The Black-ish star is decidedly team middle part — and it works so well, especially when paired with hip-length hair and a square French manicure. Simple, and yet so elegant.
Janelle Monae's ethereal look consisted of an updo accessorized with a black ribbon. It matched their transparent chiffon dress, making for a matchy-matchy moment of beauty/fashion coordination that really stood out.
The singer and Allure June/July cover star wore a winged smoky eye, glossy lips, and a sharp red manicure that totally went along with the vampy-ness of her sequined dress.
Mary J Blige
It was a half-up moment for Mary J. Blige, who also wore a gray smokey eye and glossy lips.
The actor's famous septum piercing was on full display on the red carpet, as were her long nails, lashes, and positively glowing skin.
